Here at Furry Tails we are always striving to improve and bring the best experience to our clients (and their pups, of course). We are writing you today to inform you of some exciting new changes coming to our facility.   And now, onto the exciting new changes coming to our facility and services. First, we are going to be offering dog training sessions with a professional dog trainer! These small group classes will focus on basic commands and tricks, manners, and leash etiquette. Second, we are in the process of renovating our basement! This will increase our daycare capacity and allow for separate big dog and small dog areas, as well as provide even more running and play space for the pups to enjoy. Third, we will be providing pet sitting services, so you no longer have to worry about what to do with your furry friend when you go on vacation. This is a transitional step until we allow overnight boarding at our facility in the near future. Lastly, we will be adding new groomers and daycare handlers to our pet-loving staff!   All of these changes were made with you, our valued clients, in mind. We want to make sure your dog has the best daycare experience possible. For more information about these exciting new changes, feel free to give us a call or stop by, we'll be happy to show you around! NEW FT FLYER

Benefits of Doggy Day Care

We at Furry Tails understand the importance and benefits of doggy day care, but many people still don't know about just how advantageous it could be when it comes to your dog's happiness and well being. Bringing your furry friend to the park or hiring a dog walker is great for your pup, but when it comes to overall benefits, doggy day care can't be beat.
First, it helps socialize your dog. Socialization is an extremely important factor in a dog's development. Dogs are pack animals by nature, and view the world through this lens, yet they rarely get to be around a "pack" outside of the home. As a result, some dogs could become aggressive or overly-fearful around other dogs or humans. Doggy day care allows dogs to socialize and play with other dogs in a much more natural way for them. This will ensure that your dog is well adjusted to the outside world and knows how to act around other dogs and humans.
Second, it keeps your dog active and healthy. Furry Tails provides an active and safe environment overseen by caring employees who make sure each dog receives all the attention and play time they need. Also, every three hours that a dog is in daycare, they get a walk around the block to get some fresh air and do their business. After a full day of daycare at Furry Tails, we guarantee that your pup will be "dog tired" when he gets home, allowing you to just snuggle and not worry about your dog's level of activity or loneliness during the day. And all dog people know that a tired dog is a happy dog, which means a happy owner.
Third, it makes your dog happy! Being in a stimulating environment for many hours where a dog can play with others, receive care, and learn new things is a very positive experience that will have lasting effects on your dog's mood and happiness.
All in all, no other pet care option offers the benefits and rewards of doggy day care. A happy, well-socialized dog is a joy to be around. And being greeted by a relaxed pup that's ready to cuddle is much better than coming home to hours of pent-up canine energy. Furry Tails also offers professional grooming, so your dog can get pampered too.

Furry Tails Training Classes

We are proud to announce the introduction of Furry Tails Dog Training! The classes will be taught by professional dog trainer. The small group training classes will be conducted once a week for two hours per session over the course of five weeks. The lessons will include tricks to show off (sit, stay, down, paw), social manners for when you have guests, and loose leash training so that you'll enjoy walks just as much as your furry friend! Most importantly, these sessions will provide owners with the tools needed to achieve anything they want when it comes to training their dog.
Participants will benefit from trainer's expertise and the small groups will ensure that the maximum amount of time and attention is given to each and every dog.
All participants are required to bring a long leash (the 12-15 foot training leashes work best) and updated vaccination forms. Contact us today for further information.
With Furry Tails training classes, your dog will reach its fur potential! Oops, full potential!
P.S. If you are interested in joining the first group class, please contact the front desk. Thanks!

Furry Tails Doggy Date Ideas

We at Furry Tails know that there is no better date than your dog! So this Valentine's Day, we've made a list of a few of our favorite pup-friendly establishments on the Upper East Side, for when Netflix and Chill just won't do. This way you can wine and dine in the company of your furry friend! And we won't judge if you slip your dog some table scraps. Barking Dog - With two locations on the Upper East Side, York Ave between 76th and 77th Streets and the corner of 3rd Avenue and 94th Street, this place is as pet-friendly as restaurants get. There are water fountains designated for dogs and the kitchen will even grill up some chicken for your four-legged friend while you enjoy the classic American diner menu. Shake Shack - Our favorite burger joint also gets two paws up for their dog-friendly attitude and open air seating area. The Upper East Side location, at 86th Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenue, even has a few menu options for dogs, such as the Pooch-ini; a shackburger dog biscuit with peanut butter sauce and vanilla custard. The ultimate dog treat! Bistro Chat Noir - For a more fancy doggy date, try this neighborhood bistro on 66th Street between Madison and 5th Avenue. Sited at the bottom of a beautiful townhouse, your pup is sure to love the atmosphere (as well as the smell of steak tartar and truffle fries).
